On 1^st December and 2^nd December 2009, Zhang Jianting, the Plan Hong Kong Ambassador and famous film director, paid a visit to his sponsored child Jian and two primary schools in Xi Xiang Township: one is Sang Yuan Central Primary School where Jian is studying now; the other is Ma Sang Primary School of Luo Township.

At noon of 1^st Decemberr, despite their weariness after a long journey, Zhang Jianting and the accompanying personnel came to Sang Yuan Primary School. In the school, Jian tied a red scarf for Zhang Jianting by his own; and when he was presented with a football and pictures as gifts by Zhang Jianting, Jian was overwhelmed with joy. They walked into the meeting room talking and laughing, as if they were relatives meeting again after a long separation. In the meeting room, Jian presented Zhang Jianting with two pictures he drew, the Beautiful Schoolyard and Changes in Hometown.

Afterwards, Jian led the group to visit the exhibition room of student’s works and the computer room. In the classroom, Zhang Jianting asked the students about their study and life. During the ten-minute break, Jian and his classmates played football with Zhang Jianting.

On the afternoon, Jian took his sponsor to meet his grandparents who lives in the mountain area. Jian’s parents are migrant workers in another city, so he has been living with his grandparents in a place 6 km away from the township. When the group arrived, Jian’s grandparents had already started a fire, set clean chairs and table, and prepared candies to welcome Zhang Jianting. Later, in their conversation, Zhang Jianting inquired of Jian’ grandparents about their life and Jian’s life in a detailed way.

A visit to Ma Sang Primary School of Luo Township

On the next day, Zhang Jianting visited Ma Sang Primary School of Luo Township.Students in this school acted as guides to show the group around the schoolyard and have a look at the Plan China’s projects. Invited by the students, Zhang Jianting watched the performance that were designed, directed and played by the students themselves: a song—Luo Township Welcomes You, and two plays—Disputes between Father and Son; Mum, I Want to Go to School. After the performance, Zhang Jianting gave comments and suggestions to them one by one. With his help, the student’s performance became more and more natural and vivid, especially when acting in the play Disputes between Father and Son.

When the children finished their performance Mum, I Want to Go to School, Zhang Jianting came to the little actor playing the son and said, “You played the part very well. Your tone and your tears truly expressed many children’s desires to go to school. Can you share your experience with us? ”

"This is a true story in my family. My parents left me at home and go to work in a place far from home. I used to be at the risk of dropping out from school.” the little actor said.

Encouraged by Zhang Jianting, the students showed increasing enthusiasm in joining into the Children ‘s Theater.

Then, the students invited Zhang Jianting to organize a child broadcast programme together, and they were also very happy to take photos with him and eager to ask for his autography.
