In recent years, Plan IH continues to expand its DRM (Disaster Risk Management) team, and gets great progress in rescue of Haiti earthquake and Pakistani floods. At the same time, Plan China has throw its efforts on Wenchuan earthquake and Jiangxi floods. In order to strengthen Plan China’s DRM capacity, better reflects the international programme on child-centred core concept, in August 2010, with the efforts of Mr. Unni Krishnan, the DRM coordinator in IH, Plan China has been selected by the IH to establish an EAR ARM (Emergency Alert, Review and Response Mechanism) pilot project, which was named DPP (Disaster Preparedness Process) Pilot Project in China.

In the pilot project, through studying on the actual situation, and in combination with past experience, the Country Office, PUs and each department in the Country Office have preliminarily worked out their own DPP mechanism. And with the efforts and coordination of the experts and each department in CO and PUs, the actions on DPP have come into being, which lays foundation for the inter-departments discussion and mechanism integration on DPP in the future. And it is hopeful that we could integrate the final DPP mechanism into the operation plan for FY 2010 and entered into CSP Ш issued in FY 2013.
