 On 4th September, 2009, the day which would never be forgotten, was seen as a landmark in the Yuan Shan Primary School’s history. The inauguration ceremony for the new teaching building was held in Yuan Shan Primary School. The teaching building project gained financial support from Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) and was implemented under the supervision of Plan. Related leaders of Cheng Gu government and representatives from NYK and Plan attend the ceremony, including the general representative of NYK China Takao Ito, vice general manager of East Asia Management Department Xu Guoqiang, Plan Japan officer Misao Ohashi, Grant and Financial Support Director Liu Zhongliang, Plan Xi Xiang Program Manager Wang Shaoping. At the ceremony, the General Representative of NYK China Takao Ito encouraged students to overcome the difficulties and made joint efforts to rebuild a wonderful green homeland and made contribution to China’s flourishing prosperity and Sino-Japanese friendship. Meanwhile, Takao Ito played Ping-Pong with great interest with students.  The students gave dancing performance and poetry reading at the ceremony they had prepared to express their gratitude for donator and supporter in their little young voice and their rich dance. The representatives from NYK held the opening ceremony for the new teaching building and library later before they had a tour of the new teaching building and library and sports equipment financed by NYK.The rebuilding project of Yuan Shan Primary School cost a total of 690，106 Yuan, which included 533,584 Yuan donated by NYK and 156，522 Yuan granted by the county education department. Besides, 52,000 Yuan was funded by NYK for the purchase of teaching facilities, sports equipment and books, in which 22,000 Yuan was donated by the NYK employees in China. More than 1000 books, including the bought encyclopedia, were also collected from the NYK employees and donated to the school. The Sponsorship & Grants Support Manager of Plan China Liu Zhongliang took this opportunity to express their gratitude for the donation by NYK and also gave Plan’s lifelong commitment in promoting the children’s welfare. When the teaching building was under construction, Plan provided children-centered teaching training to 12 teachers in Yuan Shan Primary School and a comprehensive training on Children protection and Children Rights to all the school faculties. Children activities of music, sports and drawing were also held aiming at promoting teachers’ teaching ability and students’ interest.  YuanShan Primary School is a comprehensive school located in Yuan Gong Town with 213 registered students. The Big Earthquake on 12th May 2008 hit this school and damaged it severely. Eleven classrooms, which are as large as 275 square meters on the average, were heavily damaged, which led to even 4cm crack of buildings. These classrooms were later pulled down as soon as they were identified as D-level dangerous building. Since it was hard for the students to keep normal study as before in the limited classroom, it was extremely needed to construct new teaching building. The reconstruction project gained the timely financial support from NYK as a result of Plan’s efforts to seek help. The new teaching building of two-floor frame construction which embraced a total area of 537 square meters was started on 3rd April, 2009 and continued for 5 months until the completion of the project in late August.
