To promote child protection around the world, Plan China International Headquarter developed a global strategy of its own for Child Protection (short for CP). Plan China Country Office held training of trainers of CP from 14 to 17 October 2008 to introduce the new strategy and to commence implementing CP policy in all areas. Miriam Moller, Child Protection Strategy Coordinator from Plan Asia Regional Office trained 24 staff members from the Country Office and Program Units (short for PU).
During the four days training, she used participatory teaching methods, group discussion, role plays and so on, so that staff were clear about the content, meaning, policies and procedures of the CP strategy and could develop an action plan for CP training according to local requirements. Following the training, participating staff will become trainers themselves, divided into 6 groups to train other staff in PUs and Country Office, as well as volunteers in the community and others who work with children. The aim is to advocate the importance of CP and implement CP in all our work. In the meanwhile, Plan China has set up a Child Protection Supervision Committee, to support the roll-out of CP training for staff, partners and communities, and the implementation of the new CP strategy in Plan China. |
